Just days after celebs graced the Golden Globes red carpet, a very similar group (give or take a few) re-glammed and dressed to the nines yet again for the 2018 Critics Choice Awards. This year’s host Olivia Munn was on her A-game last night, bringing the jokes, the roasts and all sorts of cringe-worthy moments. Olivia awkwardly took aim at all the men from last weekend’s Golden Globes who kept rather quiet about the Time’s Up movement, and even Mark Wahlberg, after it was revealed that he was paid $1.5 million for his All The Money in the World reshoot scenes, while costar Michelle Williams was allegedly given an $80 per diem, totaling less than $1,000…
But she also gave a shout-out to the GOOD guys in Hollywood, who do things like call for meetings with actresses in conference rooms, rather than hotels. Bravo, men. As for one of the cutest moments, not just last night, but possibly in award show history, The Florida Project’s seven-year-old star Brooklyn Prince had the entire audience in tears as she went up to accept her Critics Choice Award for Best Young Performer, and was courteous enough to invite her fellow nominees to ice cream later that night…
Don’t gotta tempt me with a good time! Speaking of sweet treat celebrations, Critics Choice nominee Mary J. Blige celebrated her 47th birthday during the show last night – celebs, like Alison Brie were photographed ringing in her birthday with cake – only problem was that the cake was handed out AFTER she left for the evening… it’s the thought that counts, right?
As for shocking wins, Margot Robbie revealed she hadn’t even prepared a speech for her I, Tonya nomination in which she was pleasantly surprised to be winning. She took the stage to accept her award for Best Actress in a Comedy, and her speech was so sweet that she even had Angelina Jolie beaming with pride.
