Well this certainly was NOT “A Most Violent Year” for Jessica Chastain, but “A Most Successful Year” to say the least!
Let’s all give a round-of-applause to Jessica, you guys, who received a much-deserved award at the Critics Choice Movie Awards tonight. Welcome to Clevver’s Trophy Life, where we’re bringing you all of this season’s award show scoop!
So Jessica snagged the first-ever Critics’ Choice MVP, recognizing her many accomplishments from last year, including, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, Miss Julie and her supporting performances in Interstellar and A Most Violent Year. Just listing that out, even with the knowledge of it happening, it’s still quite impressive.
OK so winning the very first MVP award was cool and all, but hold up: THAT SPEECH DOE. Jessica could easily snag the award for speechmaker of the century in our book.
She begins her acceptance speech defining the word MVP (as she notes she’s never been a jock!), which she said QUOTE “The definition that I liked is, ‘A player who is valuable to their team,’ and I loved the wording of that being part of a team.” She emphasizes the word, “team,” in which she thanks her entire team for her performance in all four successful films.
.
But the end of Jessica’s speech simply stole the night. She gave a beautiful birthday shoutout to Martin Luther King Jr., and it was just as perfect as Jessica herself. Check it out:
So guys, this seems like the perfect time to take Jessica’s advice, and SPEAK UP! When you think people are handling something incorrectly or without care, or speak up about what makes you happy or passionate. Or for our purposes right now, speak up about what you think of Jessica’s movie roles this past year.
