The Critic’s Choices were awarded last night with “La La Land” taking home Best Picture, beating out other critic favorites, Moonlight and Manchester By the Sea. La La Land’s, Damien Chazelle also took home Best Director creating lots of Oscar buzz for the film. Casey Affleck took home Best Actor for his work in Manchester By the Sea while Natalie Portman was awarded Best Actress for her performance in Jackie. Game of Thrones won Best Drama Series while Silicon Valley won big in Comedy. Also in the land of laughs, Kate McKinnon won Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her hilarious leg of work on Saturday Night Live while Donald Glover won Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Atlanta.
Best Supporting Actor went to Mahershala Ali for Moonlight while Viola Davis took home the Best Actress counterpart for Fences. Moonlight also took home Best Acting Ensemble. Ryan Reynolds was honored with the Entertainer of the Year award on top of being nominated twice for the masterpiece that was Deadpool. He thanked the entire Deadpool team which he pointed out was 11 years in the making while also dedicating his award to sick children saying that Deadpool resonated with a lot of sick children because portrays a super hero with cancer.
He also thanked two of his friends who he personally lost to cancer, he thanked his wife and his children who he pointed out need to be thanked for QUOTE – “no reason at all.” Meanwhile sexy met sexy when Ryan met Ryan Gosling and somewhere in a distant forest, thousands of flowers bloomed. It was amazing. But what’s even more amazing than Ryan meeting Ryan is when people run up on stages to accept awards that aren’t theirs.
Aw, it’s still funny even when it’s not Kanye. Leslie Mann And Christian Slater were presenting the award for Best Comedy Series to Silicon Valley but then as the executive producer was making his way to the stage, Atlanta star, Keith Stanfield rushed the stage in a captain’s hat.
