The 2016 Oscars kicked off tonight, and the star-studded evening brought us to tears of joy, laughter and just plain CRINGING, so let’s break down all the best moments that got the people talkin’ right here on Clevver’s 2016 award show coverage.
And I’ve gotta say, surviving tonight’s comical, cringe-worthy, awkward and borderline offensive moments, definitely deserves an Oscar within itself, so hey, why not relive all the glory?!
Tonight’s Oscars came and went faster than that dreaded acceptance speech cutoff music, but boy were there a few incredibly memorable moments and they began right from the get go. Oscar host Chris Rock delivered his opening monologue, which was one of those 10-minute moments where you‘re not sure whether to cheer him on, give a pity laugh or attempt ZERO emotion, when the theme of his speech was clearly structured after the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, so I’ll leave this here for you guys to relish in:
After Chris then compared Hollywood’s racism level to being “sorority racist,” as in his QUOTE, “We like you, Rhonda, but you’re not a Kappa” there was clearly no time to waste in beating around the bush regarding the controversy seeing that it’s turned into the joke of the night and that brings us to the the next best moment on our list. The Oscar cameo video of nominated films if they were to feature black actors…
