Camila took to the outside stage with a gothic-ballerina themed performance of “Crying in the Club” for the awards show in Toronto on Sunday. The solo singer sang a few lines from her slow jam single, “I Have Questions” before breaking into the much more upbeat “Crying in the Club”. Check it out...
If you had any doubts that Camila would be successful as a solo artist before, surely that clip just put those to rest.
In addition to rocking the house at the Much Music Video Awards, Camila has been busy promoting her upcoming debut album, called “The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving”, which is set to drop sometime in the fall. While talking with the BBC about the album and her writing process, Camila shared QUOTE, “This process has taught me not to be afraid to feel...Feeling sad is a part of life. Grief is a part of life. Heartbreak is a part of life, just as much as falling in love is a part of life. And it doesn't necessarily mean that those emotions are bad. They are just as necessary as the happy ones.”
She also gave some sound advice to anyone who, like her before writing the album, may not be as in touch with their feelings, saying QUOTE, "And so don't be afraid of them – welcome them, let them in. Because as soon as you accept it, talk about it, accept that it's happening, the sooner you'll be able to move on from it." Preach, girl, preach!
In addition to getting in touch with her emotions through the process of creating her album, Camila is clearly feeling more empowered as a solo artist--especially since she now has the freedom to write and sing about more intimate, personal issues. She explained to BBC QUOTE,"[I] was making music about everything BUT what I was going through. It was like a secret burning on my tongue and for some reason I could not get myself to say it." Well obviously all those burning secrets are going to be poured into that solo album come this fall, and we can’t wait to hear it.
