Camila Cabello SLAMMED For Awkward Air Guitar Performance on Ellen

Camila stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform her latest hit single, “Never Be the Same”. She rocked an 80s look and vibe for the performance that felt like an homage to Madonna, but while her aesthetic and vocals were on point, her electric guitar playing--not so much. Because “Never Be the Same” doesn’t actually feature guitar, and you can’t hear the guitar accompaniment in her Ellen performance at all…
As you can see, Cabello sings and appears to be playing the instrument, but the sound of a guitar is nowhere to be found. This prompted confused fans to discuss the performance on social media. One Tweeted QUOTE, “I’m trying really hard to figure out why Camila Cabello, who clearly does not play the guitar, is using one as a stage prop to wave her hand wildly in front of [her] in some facsimile of ‘playing’ it, for every performance of ‘Never Be the Same’ I’ve seen lately”.
Of course, that user is actually incorrect because Camila does, in fact, play the guitar, even if she wasn’t playing it on Ellen. One Twitter user came to Camila’s defense, replying to that tweet QUOTE, “Except for the fact that she does play the guitar, since she was 16. There are multiple covers she posted on youtube and even a live performance on Elvis Duran.”
So we can all agree that Camila can, in fact, play the guitar, as we’ve seen her do many times, but that doesn’t explain for her air-guitar playing on Ellen. Of course, some fans thought she really WAS playing...
One fan tweeted QUOTE, Shout out @Camila_Cabello for playing an actual guitar on @TheEllenShow. I hope it serves to get kids into instruments. #morepopstarsplayinginstruments” while another Tweeted QUOTE, “Oh my god... #CamilaOnEllen has me crying, it was such a beautiful performance and whenever she has her guitar it gets me, I’m so proud”.
It’s pretty amazing that Camila can inspire people with her guitar playing, even if she’s not actually playing.
One fan had the perfect reaction to the whole air guitar incident, Tweeting QUOTE, “Look what we not gonna do is pretend Miss Cabello isnt an incredible songwriter and a musician on top of being a singer while we praise every white boy in the industry who's ever stepped on any stage.” They make a fair point.
