Demi Lovato ended the U.S. leg of her Tell Me You Love Me tour with a bang thanks to a little surprise from opening act Kehlani. The 25-year-old singer was performing “Lonely” in Newark, NJ, when Kehlani jumped on stage and planted a kiss right on her lips.
I, along with basically every human being who saw the video, was absolutely SHOOK by what happened between the musicians because no one saw it coming. And judging by Demi’s reaction when Kehlani began stroking her shoulders, she didn’t either!
Demi recently opened up to Nick Grimshaw on BBC’s Radio 1 Breakfast Show saying QUOTE “She came up behind me, I had no idea. She told me she was going to be watching the show, so I was, like, looking for her and I didn’t see her out there so I was, like, ‘OK, I guess she decided to go or whatever.’ Then all of a sudden I feel hands on my shoulders for the song called ‘Lonely’ and I look up and it’s her. And, I don’t know, we just kissed each other. Like, it wasn’t planned, she totally surprised me. It was perfect. It was awesome.”
Nick compared the girls’ kiss to the one Madonna and Drake shared on stage at Coachella in 2015, but Demi didn’t necessarily agree with the analogy.
So, I guess you could say Demi kissed a girl and she liked it?
Demi is super open about her sexuality and being attracted to both men and women -- she even sang about being attracted to women in the song “Cool for the Summer.” I’m not saying anything romantic is going on between her and Kehlani, but it’s definitely nice that she has nothing but good things to say about that now-infamous smooch.
