Demi Lovato & Nick Jonas CANCEL Tour Dates Over Anti-LGBT Law

Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato are making a powerful statement against North Carolina’s HB2 law and canceling their upcoming shows in the state.
Nick and Demi aren’t afraid to stand up for what they believe in, even if it means disappointing some of their fans.
Nick and Demi both took to social media to reveal they are canceling their upcoming shows in North Carolina due to the state’s HB2 law, called the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act.
The law blocks transgender individuals from using public bathrooms that match their gender identity and stops cities from passing anti-discrimination ordinances to protect LGBT people.
The pair both posted a statement on Instagram and Twitter, saying, QUOTE,
“After much thought and deliberation, we have decide to cancel our Honda Civic Tour: Future Now shows in Raleigh and Charlotte. One of our goals for the tour has always been to create an atmosphere where every single attendee feels equal, included and accepted for who they are.
North Carolina’s discriminatory HB2 law is extremely disappointing, and it takes away some of the LGBT community’s most basic rights and protections. But we will not allow this to stop us from continuing to make progress for equality and acceptance.
We know the cancellation of these shows is disappointing to our fans, but we trust that you will stand united with us against this hateful law.”
Nick and Demi aren’t the first performers to a cancel concerts in North Carolina due to this new law. Mumford and Sons, Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper and more have canceled upcoming shows in the state.
In other Demi news, the singer just got a new pet. She introduced fans to her new baby Harriet, a hairless cat, on Snapchat.
Even though Demi is allergic to cats, she thought she’d be ok around Harriet, because she’s doesn’t have any hair. Right?
Unfortunately… she was wrong. The cat still made Demi’s allergies flare up.
Demi tweeted, “I honestly thought I wouldn’t be a allergic to a hairless cat... I’m so bummed.”
According to the “Confident” singer’s Snapchat story, she’s keeping the cat, even though it definitely made her face swell up.
