Ed Sheeran SPILLS That He's Forming A Boy Band & Performs On The Today Show

Ed was pretty much responsible for a few of 1D’s hits, so it only makes sense for him to create a boy band to sing the songs that 1D can’t…right?
These days, Ed has his hands quite full. On top of releasing his third studio album, Divide, traveling around the world doing interviews, AND announcing that he’s going to embark on a tour to support his latest album, the singer revealed that he’s also working on putting together a boy band. Honestly, I don’t know how he has time for such a huge side project.
Ed dropped the boy band bomb on his Today show appearance and revealed this.
Now I know what you’re probably thinking, why doesn’t he just sing them himself? Well, he has an answer to that question, take a look.
Maybe once he gets his boy band together they can be his opening act for his future tours. While the singer did announce his upcoming untitled arena tour that starts this summer on the Today show, Ed explained in depth to Entertainment Tonight that this four month tour in the US is just the beginning.
The ‘Shape of You’ singer said of his tour plans QUOTE, “It starts in June. I know we’re going for four months, so it’s within a fair few venues in the US, and then we’re doing a bigger tour next year.”
And when it comes to the whole tour aesthetic, expect the unexpected. Ed revealed that the staging for his upcoming tour is going to be way different from his past tours. He said, “I’ve put a lot of time and effort into it, and it’s gonna look impressive. In terms of it being a show…now I can do a show where it’s singles, which is something I haven’t been able to do before.”
Obviously we’re all excited to watch Ed perform his songs from Divide live, but in case you’re feeling antsy right this second, maybe his performances from the Today show will hold you over for now.
While Ed performed both his hit singles, ‘Castle on the Hill’ and ‘Shape of You’ with the help from his trusty loop pedal…
He also sang a couple others like ‘What Do I Know,’ the ever so sweet, ‘Supermarket Flowers.’
And of course, ‘Thinking Out Loud.’ But before he left the stage, Ed gifted his fans with a bonus performance and sang ‘Perfect’ just because he felt bad they all woke up so early to see him.
