Fifth Harmony Announce Indefinite HIATUS With Public Statement

Fifth Harmony just announced something that we have been fearing for months.
Harmonizers, you may need to sit down for this.
We can’t believe we’re about to say this, but Fifth Harmony is officially going on hiatus. Cue the tears and heartbreak.
When Camila Cabello exited the group a little over a year ago, everyone was worried that it was over for the girl group that was formed on the X-Factor. But the remaining members, Lauren Jauregui, Normani Kordei, Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane were quick to prove that they were going to be stronger than ever before.
The girls have been touring non-stop and their first album without Camila, Fifth Harmony, had hits like “Down” and “Por Favor”. Although they have said over and over that they’re not breaking up, we started to get nervous when the girls started to do duets with other artists and released solo music.
Our most recent worry came when it was announced that Ally Brooke signed a solo record deal and today, the news was confirmed by the group’s twitter account.
The statement announcing their upcoming hiatus says QUOTE “After six years going hard, non stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and you, we do need to take some time for now to go on a hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors,"
Although this news isn’t necessarily a huge surprise considering all the signs, we’re still shocked. The worst part? The fact that they didn’t give us any clue on when they would get back together.
It’s hard to not automatically think of all the other groups who went on hiatus years ago and still haven’t gotten back together. One Direction anyone?
And while fans are understandably devastated, they’ve shown their love on twitter with the hashtag #ThankYouFifthHarmony which became the number one worldwide trend.
One fan tweeted QUOTE, “#ThankYouFifthHarmony for bringing girl groups into this decade, for your music and your friendship, for the memories, for sticking with harmonizers for another year despite the challenges, for working your butts off for 6 years + for creating this dysfunctional harmonizer family”
And another said QUOTE, “#ThankYouFifthHarmony for these amazing 6 years. For the laughter, friendships, memories, tears and love. You 4 girls have been the best role models I could have ever asked for and will continue to be. I’m so excited to see what’s in store in this new chapter of your lives x”
We couldn’t agree more. Of course we’re happy that the girls are getting a well-deserved break and that they can focus on new exciting things, but we really can’t believe that this is happening!
