When Fifth Harmony first announced that they would be going on hiatus from the group to pursue solo endeavors last month, harmonizers were both shocked and heartbroken. But even though all of the girls have big things planned for their individual solo careers, that doesn’t necessarily mean they weren’t just as heartbroken when it came time to share the news with their fans.
At the Daily Front Row’s 4th Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards over the weekend, Normani spoke to ET about what it felt like when the group announced the hiatus. She said QUOTE, “It was very scary and heartbreaking for me personally. The first day that we even put out the announcement for the hiatus, it was the toughest day.”
But, just because the girls were heartbroken about the split doesn’t mean that there’s any bad blood between them. When Normani was asked if there was anything in particular that caused the split, she said, QUOTE, “No, there’s no air to clear. It’s an understanding that we have amongst each other and it’s literally been six years, and I feel like we owe that to each other and we owe it to ourselves to figure out, ‘who am I?’”
Even though we’re sad that we won’t be getting new 5H music any time soon, we have to admit, Normani is right! Plus, it seems like she’s super excited to discover what she’s capable of on her own.
It’s not all bad news, though! Before heading into the event, Normani shared that years down the line, she would be more than willing to reunite with her girls again, and to be honest, that’s good enough for us!
