It's been 10 years since we last heard from Monica Lewinsky, but the former Presidential mistress's extremely detailed Vanity Fair essay is now coming under attack. The now 40-year-old opened up about a number of topics for the mag's June issue -- including her affair with former President Bill Clinton, among other things -- but now former second lady Lynne Chenney is accusing Bill and Hillary Clinton of orchestrating Monica's open essay.
Why would they do something such as this, you ask? Well, Hillary has obviously been leaning towards a presidential run for 2016, so Lynne thinks this is their way of putting it all out there, so it's not one of the main focus' of Hillary's campaign. Lynne opened up about the situation on Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, saying: "I really wonder if this isn't an effort on the Clintons' part to get that story out of the way."
The Washington Post's Ruth Marcus echoed Lynne's statement on Thursday's episode of Today by mentioning, "Now, if there is a Hillary Clinton campaign for president in 2016, we can move on from the Lewinsky scandal of yore."
However, not everyone believes the Clintons were behind this. MSNBC Now host Alex Wagner said: "I think Monica Lewinsky is an accepted truth about the Clintons, and this is a woman who spends a lot of time in that article trying to get past the trauma of her early twenties and move on and talk about the online harassment that plagues many young people today."
Personally, I can't see Bill Clinton calling up Monica and being like- hey! Remember us?! How you been? Hey was wondering if you could maybe crawl out from the rock you've been hiding under and talk about how I cheated on my wife with you so that people could once again remember. Hillary wants to run for presidency and we think this would be good for her. Uh- NO.
Now, on a bit of a lighter note, another piece of the Vanity Fair essay that has a lot of people talking is the fact that Monica addresses the now infamous lyric from Beyonce's Partition. Take a listen.
Monica corrects Queen B saying: "Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we're verbing, I think you meant 'Bill Clinton'd all on my gown,' not 'Monica Lewinsky'd.'"
