Caitlyn Jenner made her debut on Monday on the cover of Vanity Fair and celebrities from Snooki and Lady Gaga to the president of the United States reacted via social media. Hear what they had to say right here on Clevver News.
Bruce Jenner transitioned to being a woman, but it wasn’t until Vanity Fair posted its magazine cover and behind-the-scenes footage that people finally got to see her. Since that moment, celebrities have been tweeting and insatgramming their thoughts and reactions of the reveal of Caitlyn Jenner.
There has been overwhelming support and applause for Cailtyn. President Obama wrote “It takes courage to share your story.” Ellen Degeneres honored her writing “My hope for the world is that we can all be as brave as @Caitlyn_Jenner.”
Lady Gaga thanked for QUOTE “being a part of all of our lives & using your platform to change people’s minds” and added, “The beauty on the inside is now also on the outside. God bless you and the whole family for sharing it with us.” Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson wrote “#CaitlynJenner has truly broken the Internet. What a moment.”
What a moment indeed. And celebrities repsoinded in different ways. Some used less words and were supportive with a simple statement or emoji. Actress Ellen Page typed a single heart with a photo of Caitlyn. Jenny McCarthy wrote, “Beautiful.”
Sam Smith simply said, “YAS.” And Tyra Banks tweeted, “Hi Caitlyn,”. And Lily Aldridge and Anna Kendrick both made simple statement as well. Kerry Washington was more expressive writing “CAITLYN!!!!!!!!!! Love this. So happy for her.”
Gigi hadid, Demi Moore, Grant Gustin, zac posen, Melissa rivers, Jennifer love Hewitt, and maria shriver all made supportive posts as well.
Other celebs supported Caitlyn with a lighter sentiment, still with a loving tone. Lena Dunham joked, “I just want Caitlyn Jenner to take me out and teach me how to drive a stick shift in heels.” Demi Lovato said “Guys.... Caitlyn Jenner has better boobs than I do... ” and Sarah Hyland echoed her sentiments, and moments later wrote a more sentimental note in support. !” Snooki aka Nicole Polizzi said that Jenner “totally stole the show for me and is the hottest of the family.”
And of course, Cailtyn’s family took to social media to show their support and love for Caitlyn. Kim Kardashian who, then Bruce, said was most supportive of his transition wrote “Caitlyn Jenner for Vanity Fair Annie Leibovitz! How beautiful! Be happy, be proud, live life YOUR way! Khloe wrote We were given this life because you were strong enough to live it! I couldn't be prouder!!! Caitlyn, (photo)”
. Kendall wrote now that's a cover. and Kylie and Kourtney posted as well. Even Rob who usually avoids social media took to Twitter to write “Love You, @Caitlyn_Jenner!”
Brody and Brandon, Caitlyn’s sons did not post via social media but Brandon’s wife leah jenner posted to instagram writing “You’re finally free, Cait. #courageouswoman I love you.”
And when Azealia Banks tweeted, “Caitlyn Jenner looks exactly like Jessica Lange. Wow!” others started chiming in agreeing. When asked about the comparison Jessica Lange called the observation that she looks like Jenner, QUOTE “wonderful.”
Drake Bell tweeted a comment that was not received well writing"Sorry…still calling you Bruce,"
The twitterverse responded negatively calling him transphobin=c and Drake deleted the tweet 40 minutes later.
He later added, "I'm not dissing him! I just don't want to forget his legacy! He is the greatest athlete of all time! Chill out!" and also wrote "That's bravery."
Well Caitlyn Jenner is focusing on all of the positivity and joined Twitter herself using the Vanity Fair cover as her icon picture. She wrote, “:I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me.” Caitlyn actually broke a Twitter record by acquiring the fastest growing account – she reached one million followers in just four hours!
