Rihanna’s Fenty line of cosmetics has been doing so well, competitors are THIRSTY for some of the profits.
According to TMZ Rihanna’s collaboration with Puma called Fenty University is likely to be sued for copyright infringement by another clothing line called Freedom United. Freedom United is alleging that the “Fenty University” line knowingly stole their ‘FU” logo and plastered it all over sweaters and sandals.
Freedom United sent Puma a cease and desist letter in January AND requested a full accounting overview of all the profits from the sale of the Fenty University line. Freedom United claimed that Rihanna knew about their logo for years before her collab with Puma and intentionally ripped it off.
Puma responded to the letter in March saying there was NO comparison between the two logos because not only does Rihanna’s logo use a completely different font, but also F U is definitely not unique enough to be trademarked. Puma also pointed out out that their Fenty collaboration was long over and that F U items were no longer being produced.
Freedom United basically said F U to Puma, that their response was insufficient and they intend to file a lawsuit against them in the near future.
