Another day, another legal mishap for Justin Bieber and his producer Skrillex, who are being accused of ripping off the artist’s music, so is it really too late now to say sorry?
After giving Justin Bieber a chance to actually say “Sorry” and to not put out his Skrillex-produced smash hit, indie pop singer Casey Dienel who goes by the name of White Hinterland is officially suing both Bieber and Skrillex, claiming that they stole her vocal loop to her 2014 single “Ring The Bell” in the beginning of both tracks. So we’ll let you guys be the judge. Here we have the beginning of “Ring The Bell”:
The similarities are unmistakable; however, if Justin comes back with the fact that he only used 8 seconds of the riff, Casey is arguing that the loop is used 6 times throughout his song, and also points out that both songs feature keyboard synthesizers, synth bass, drums, and percussion.
She also noted that her single was a success in itself, gaining over 800,000 streams online. After also claiming that she let Justin off the hook with a warning not to release his single back in December, Casey ain’t messin’ around this time, because not only has she included JB AND Skrillex in the case, but also the song’s writers as its defendants and allegedly wants Bieber to stop playing the tune altogether.
A world without “Sorry?” I can’t even begin to imagine such a catastrophe, but I want to know what you guys think about this unfortunate legal matter. Do you think the songs were way too similar or do you think it’s just another artist attempting to gain more money? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments section below and after that, don’t forget to click right over here to check out a brand new episode of Beauty Trippin' where the girls are gettin’ all dressed for the Circus… AKA Cirque du Soleil.
