Literally ANYTHING, including a movie based on one very clever Twitter user’s creative suggestion. Here’s how it went down. Rihanna and Lupita Nyongo were photographed sitting side by side at a Miu Miu fashion show back in 2014. The pic clearly show the world just how badass these two women are, with Rihanna wearing a two-toned fur coat and shades, and Lupita looking ultra sophisticated chic in a sweater over a bejwelled button up. I mean, come on. So, obviously there was no surprise that the snap resurfaced just last month to once again break the internet.
One user had the right idea, however, when he turned the pic into a meme writing QUOTE “Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scams.” And that’s where things got REAL.
The internet started chiming in, creating this seemingly crazy idea that a movie based on that user’s character breakdowns could actually happen. But the world stopped turning when Lupita responded saying quote “I’m down if you are, “Rihanna,” and Rihanna wasted no time responded to that saying QUOTE “I’m in Pit’z.” Before anybody could blink, Insecure’s Issa Rae hopped on board, along with the one and only Ava DuVernay, and an actual bidding war began for rights to the movie, with Netflix coming up on top, solidifying the deal during the Cannes Film Festival.
And now we wait.
And while we wait for this group of ladies to make out wildest dreams come true, I want to know what you all think about the movie came from a meme, so get to talking down in the comments section below. I’m your host Sinead de Vries and I’ll see you all back here soon on Clevver News.
