Riverdale Season 3 BEGINS Production & Casting NEW Villain

Thanks to Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and a little thing we like to call Twitter, we know that production has officially begun on season 3. Wednesday morning Roberto (who also doubles as the writer) shared a photo of the premiere episode script coverpage. He captioned the image, “And so Season 3 of #Riverdale begins! Thrilled & honored to get to tell more stories w/this incredible cast & crew!” The pic reveals the first episode is titled Labor Day, and features a true Archie Comics throwback hinting at some new drama.
Speaking of drama, the Riverdale producers are reportedly planning on introducing an unlikely new character in season 3. According to The Hashtag Show, they are currently casting for Archie comics character Evelyn Evernever. She is described as “Otherworldly, seemingly omnipresent, and a bit odd, Evelyn is Edgar’s daughter and Betty’s new neighbor. She’s eager to befriend Betty, and is surprisingly insightful for her age, but may be hiding dark secrets about herself.” Sounds like Riverdale is getting its very own Luna Lovegood. All jokes aside, it sounds like Evelyn is definitely going to stir up Betty’s world as she knows it. And she also might look exactly like Betty. The character description goes on to say that this girl may be physically reminiscent of Betty. Even better, this is a reoccurring role, so Evelyn is here to stay.
Fans familiar with Archie may be a tad surprised by this new villain-like character coming to Riverdale. Evelyn is more associated with Little Archie comics, but did also appear in the Betty & Veronica comics when she kidnapped Archie. Sounds like we can safely predict a kidnapping for KJ Apa’s character this season. We’ll find out when season 3 premieres October 10th on The CW!
