Ryan Murphy officially announced on Twitter today that the Murder House/Coven crossover fans were promised a couple years ago WILL be the storyline for season 8. He tweeted QUOTE, “The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won't be happening next year...because it's happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER”
Ryan originally broke the news of this crossover two years ago when he told EW QUOTE, “There will be characters from Murder House and characters from Coven together.”
The new season will bring together some of the characters from season 1’s “Murder House” and season 3’s “Coven”. Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Dylan McDermott, Jessica Lange, and Connie Britton all starred in the “Murder House” season, which followed the story of a family dealing with internal conflicts and emotional turmoil, while also confronting dark forces and figures in their new and SUPER haunted home.
And Season 3 of course told the story of a coven of witches in New Orleans. Cast members included Emma Roberts, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Kathy Bates, and Lady Gaga.
While we’re not sure just how many actors from Season 1 and 3 will be joining Season 8, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who both appeared in Murder House and Coven, have confirmed that they will be back for Season 8. And it was previously announced that Kathy Bates, Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman, will all be appearing in the upcoming season.
Ryan teased of season 8’s cast and plot, “You will see so many fan favorites return that you’ll feel like it’s ‘The Love Boat’...It’s a very high concept. It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode 5.”
WHAT HAPPENS IN EPISODE 5, RYAN? You can’t play with our heartstrings like this! He also teased that the season will be set sometime around October 2019, and that Sarah Paulson will play a hairstylist while Joan Collins will join the cast to play Evan Peters’ grandmother.
