Taylor Swift BLASTED For Threatening To Sue Critics

Taylor has found herself in some seriously hot water for trying to get a critic to retract a story that suggested that her music identifies with the white supremacist-slash-Alt Right movement.
It all started on Monday, when the American Civil Liberties Union, aka the ACLU, sent Taylor a letter in response to what they called a “threatening” document her legal team had sent to a website called PopFront earlier this year. Taylor’s camp was reportedly trying to shut down an article the site had published entitled, “Swiftly to the alt-right: Taylor Subtly gets the lower case kkk in formation”. The article explained that some white supremacists see her as a symbol and an idol of their movement, are huge fans of her work, and the writer even went as far as to compare Taylor to Adolf Hitler.
The writer of the article received a cease-and-desist letter from Taylor and her lawyer, threatening to bring a defamation lawsuit against them AND demanding the story be retracted. Taylor and her lawyer also pointed out that just because Taylor has been silent regarding the Alt-Right movement and its support of her music doesn’t mean that she identifies with the group, which the article suggested.
After receiving the letter, the writer of the article contacted the ACLU, who stepped in to defend the writer’s constitutional right to criticize Taylor’s work. The letter from the ACLU stated that he editor and the site were protected by the right to free speech, and also slammed Taylor and her lawyer for threatening a defamation lawsuit. The ACLU explained of the so-called falsehoods in the article QUOTE, “Not even in your wildest dreams can they constitute defamation” adding QUOTE, “Criticism is never pleasant, but a celebrity has to shake it off, even if the critique may damage her reputation.” Holy crap, is Kanye running the ACLU? Because that is beyond savage.
After news of the ACLU letter broke, other reporters took to Twitter to share their own stories of Taylor’s team trying to shut them down and sending them cease-and-desist letters. One reporter Tweeted QUOTE, “I had to change a header photo once on a post of celeb beefs because it was Taylor Swift and Katy. Spoiler: it wasn’t Katy with the issue.” And another writer shared QUOTE, “Taylor’s people once requested I take down a post where I imagined her storyboarding a European vacay with Tom Hiddleston”. Okay I honestly don’t see why Taylor or her lawyers would have a problem with that because it clearly happened, right?! Well just when Taylor probably thought she was out of the woods and above all these public feuds, look what her legal team made all these reporters and the ACLU do...
