All of the actors were out to cheer on their peers at tonight’s 21st annual SAG Awards! You’re back at Clevver’s Trophy Life coverage, and from emotional wins to inevitable tech malfunctions --- we’re counting down the 8 BEST MOMENTS from tonight’s big show.
The night was kicked off with some introductions by some of our favorite stars --- including Jennifer Anniston and Zack Galifankis. PS.- Yes, that is a slimmed down, clean shaven, almost unrecognizable Zack. But anyway, if you’re concerned that they might have been too serious --- don’t worry, they weren’t.
Next up --- we had some big wins for the cast of Orange is the New Black! Not only did Uzo Aduba win for Best Actress in a Comedy Series --- which got an adorable standing ovation from Modern Family’s Julie Bowen… but moments after, the whole cast took the stage to accept the award for Best Ensemble in a Comedy!! And naturally they couldn’t have been more adorable.
Next up we have one of our favorite parts of award shows --- yes, those moments that no one expects and then everrrryone talks about. For tonight… The biggest flub of the night goes to this super awkward Reese Witherspoon interruption.
Frances McDormand takes our next spot for taking the stage like it was her job. No seriously… after basically running to the stage, she insisted that JK Simmons help her up the stairs, then preceded to shamelessly self-promote herself and her projects.
Anddd she wasn’t the only one to make a splash on stage --- Carrie Fischer took the stage to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to her mother Debbie Reynolds who then proceeded to make a joke about their hairstyles over the years.
Though most of the presenters kept their monologues short and sweet, leave it to Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg to be … well… absolutely ridiculous.
Julianne Moore stole the show yet again… Winning the award for Best Actress in a Drama --- and while her speech was eloquent as usual, we absolutely love that she took the opportunity to embrace her soap opera roots.
And now for the final moment of the night… Birdman’s win for Best Acting Ensemble. So obviously a big congrats is in order … but these were just a few of the gems we enjoyed when the whole group took the stage … And please do yourself a favor, and keep you eyes on Emma Stone’s face!
So between major wins, hilarious acceptance speeches, and of course a near fall, courtesy of Naomi Watts --- tonight’s SAG Awards were QUITE memorable! Which was your favorite moment from the evening? Let us know in the comments below and then click right over here to see Eddie Redmayne take home the Best Actor Award for his outstanding work in The Theory of Everything. Until next time, I’m Ryland Adams, thanks for watching!
