Cardi B is defending herself in a cover art lawsuit with some cold hard facts.
And at the same time she’s cleverly distracting us with her new album tracklist.
Cardi B is one smart B. She’s not standing down after a model slapped her with a lawsuit over her old mixtape cover, and at the same time she’s diverting our attention to her new album. Earlier this week we learned that model Kevin Brophy wants to take Cardi to court, saying she lifted his back tattoo for her Gangsta Bi**h Music Vol 1. mixtape cover art. Yup, that one.
Now, TMZ reports that Cardi is claiming her innocence. Cardi has defended herself saying the model on her cover doesn’t have a neck tattoo like Kevin Brophy and also... Kevin’s white. Cardi claims the model on her mixtape is a “young, dark-skinned male.” Cardi is proving it with an alt-shot from her mixtape photoshoot dug up on her Instagram from over two years ago. She hopes this photo is evidence enough to prove she’s innocent. If not, Cardi could be required to pay Kevin a total of $5 mill.
But Cardi definitely has more exciting things to think about right now. Amid all the drama, Cardi dropped her debut album “Invasion of Privacy” tracklist on her Instagram. We see 13 song titles alongside an unrecognizable Cardi in a blonde wig. Right now there’s 2 features from 21 Savage and Migos, but Cardi’s caption hints at more bombshells: “TRACKLIST! I have some surprises. I know you have some question: Don’t ask me find out on Friday.” Her long-awaited album finally drops this friday April 6th.
While we wait for the drop, tell us below if you think Kevin Brophy really is the model on Cardi’s mixtape? Whose side are you on here? For more Cardi, click here to find out how Cardi’s making Tonight Show history. Thanking for checking in with Clevver, I’m your host Sinead de Vries.
