Glee's fifth season isn't even over yet, but we're already getting brand new shocking details for the show's upcoming sixth season. It was revealed MONTHS ago by Glee creator Ryan Murphy that the show's sixth and final season would focus solely on Rachel, Kurt and the NYC crew, but now he's singing a different tune. (See what we did there?) Ryan recently told a group of reporters that a time jump for season six is in the works -- but he was pretty cryptic about it, saying: "We are going to do a time jump, and that's really all I'll say. My feeling about the last season of Glee is very clear, and that is that we will be reaching out to all of the regulars on the show, that original group of Glee club members and the teachers, and anybody who wants to come back can come back. Anybody who wants to be a part of the show, we welcome them." I am so excited about this!!! Remember when One Tree Hill did a time jump -- it was awesome. But back to Glee.
Ryan also spoke about how the entire course of the show shifted after Cory Montieth passed, and gave a few details on the show's new "powerful" ending. He explained that they "do have a final idea that we're working on that I think is very powerful, and moving and you know, it's about Rachel and Mr. Schue and it sort of returns them to their origins and their roots about how they felt about each other and when they were all much younger and everything was idyllic." Anyone else feeling serious emotional suddenly? Okay me, too.
As you might know, Ryan revealed that the show's original ending was supposed to be Cory's character Finn running the McKinley High Glee club, while Rachel was a big star in NYC, and she eventually would come back to her Lima, Ohio beginnings -- and Finn, as well.
On that note, Ryan also gave details on Rachel's dating life now that Finn has passed away. He said: "We have to sort of pause and think, well, what are we going to do with Rachel? So this year what we decided to do was to remove the equation of anybody coming in and taking Finn's place because I don't really think that's possible. And I think that worked out quite well and I really like dwelling on Rachel the careerist again, who's going to be a star no matter what it takes and with her friendships, but as for the future, there's a lot of discussion."
Talk about a lot to ponder! So, What are YOUR feelings on this Glee news? Do you think it's smart to do a time jump?
