Kendrick Lamar kicked off the 2018 Grammy Awards with U2 and Dave Chappelle and we didn’t even know what we were in for.
After that opening, all we can say is DAMN!
When news dropped that Dave Chappelle would be opening the Grammys with Kendrick Lamar and U2, you may have been like, what is Dave Chappelle going to do? Kendrick and U2 on stage together wasn’t surprising because U2 and Kendrick ha worked together before. U2 collabed on Kendrick’s song ‘XXX’ and Kendrick was featured on U2’s song “Get Out Of Your Own Way”! Kendrick performed a medley of hits and opened the show with American Flags waving on all the screens and soldiers marching to the beat.
After that crazy intro, This Is A Satire by Kendrick Lamar popped up on the screen and U2 made their entrance.
The best part was when Dave Chappelle came out to do one thing and it was exactly something that we would expect from one of the best comedians of all time.
After that brief break Kendrick continued to perform, but Dave Chappelle wasn’t done. Like many of us, he couldn’t believe that this was airing on CBS!
And just when you thought you had seen it all, Kendrick wasn’t done. He ended his set with a literal bang.
Before Kendrick even took the stage, he already won awards for Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video for Humble, which I’m sure gave him even more adrenaline during his epic performance. Even though Kendrick was the first performance, I think it’s safe to say that it was undoubtedly one of the best performances of the night.
