Kesha may not be allowed to perform at the Billboard Music Awards this weekend, but you’d be sadly mistaken to ever think that a setback like this will stop her from having a voice.
And that voice you just heard, was the voice of an actual angel, so in the words of Lady Gaga, URSULA, WE WANT HER VOICE BACK!
After the news of Kesha’s Billboard Music Award performance being rescinded by Dr. Luke and her record label, Kemosabe Records, Hollywood once again rose to the occasion with endless amounts of support. Kesha’s statement on Instagram posted yesterday morning revealed that all she wanted to do was perform a cover of Bob Dylan’s “It Ain’t Me Babe” without alluding to any references of her legal situation whatsoever.
However, Kesha’s revoked privileges did not stop her from giving tribute to one of her favorite artists, and with the help of front man Ben Folds of the band Ben Folds Five, Kesha was able to perform the track last night at the Los Angeles Orpheum Theater, and her performance may or may not have blown the audience away. Check it out:
Many other of Kesha’s supporters backed her via social media including Lady Gaga, who tweeted QUOTE, “Isn't it strange that it's legal to own a woman this way? Listen Ursula, we want her voice back. #freeKesha” and even included a link to our very own CLEVVER TV’S news story.
Kesha’s mom also went on a Twitter spree defending her daughter, sending out many tweets saying, “So are Keshas constitutional rights being violated now, judge Lady? Does every adult woman need a man’s permission to do what she loves? Does Kesha have the right to pursue her happiness? Do you think that there is one male singer who could ever be "not allowed to sing" on the Billboard Awards by another man? How much more public abuse does my daughter have to take before someone says "Enough is enough"!”
The tweets go on, as would any mother’s if their daughter were facing public scrutiny such as this situation. Kesha’s mom even asked the other performers to rally against the show and to protest, which included Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Britney Spears, and more.
But seeing as though Kesha has not backed down yet, the fight is far from over, so right now, feel free to share your support for Kesha and let me know all your thoughts on her performance with Ben Folds right down here in the comments section. After that, be sure to check out a brand new episode of Beauty Trippin' where the girls take on modeling, and trust me, you don’t want to miss this one.
