Lady Gaga and the sexual assault survivors who joined her on stage for her song “‘Til it Happens to You’ all got matching tattoos of a symbol in solidarity.
Some opted to get the tattoo on their back, while others got it on their wrist. Mother Monster herself had the symbol places on the back of her upper left shoulder.
Gaga also posted a series of images on Twitter as a reminder that not all places are appropriate to make a sexual advances towards women, such as the classroom or the studio. She added a the tags #FreeEveryWoman and #FreeKesha to one of the powerful posts.
I love the tattoos and the tweets, but mostly it is so inspiring to see Lady Gaga to take something as incredibly personal and painful as her own experience with sexual assault, and turn it into a movement that is so powerful and supportive of other survivors. If you saw the Oscar performance you know exactly what I’m talking about.
In other Gaga news, Ryan Murphy has asked her to return to his American Horror Story acting troupe in October, and she said yes! She added QUOTE, “I can’t promise you how or when, or anything like that,” so it sounds like Lady Gaga has some serious scheduling to figure out to make it work. That being said, after seeing her on Hotel--for which she won a Golden Globe for her acting--frankly the show wouldn’t be the same without her, so we’re so glad it sounds like she’s gonna make it work!
