Nicki Minaj has postponed the North American leg of her NickiHndrxx Tour until May of last year. Live Nation made the announcement, assuring fans who’d already bought tickets for those dates that they’d be receiving a refund.
The news comes after a report from Page Six that Nicki’s tour was suffering from low ticket sales. The North American part of the tour was supposed to kick off on September 21st in Baltimore, but according to Page Six, THAT arena -- which can fit about 20,000 fans -- had only sold around 2,000 tickets. They also reported that in LA, only 3,400 tickets had been sold, and in Nicki’s hometown of Brooklyn, 5,050 tickets had been sold.
While it’s not clear why the ticket sales were so low, Nicki addressed the decision to postpone the North American leg of her tour in a Twitter video. Take a look.
While Future is still set to join Nicki for the European leg of her NickiHndrxx Tour, which kicks off in Germany next year on February 21st, he has dropped out of the North American part of the tour, sighting scheduling conflicts. As for who will be replacing Future, Nicki also addressed those plans in her Twitter video.
So basically, Future’s replacement is still up in the air. Nicki also noted that she’ll still be doing the Australian leg of her tour in January.
A rep for Nicki basically reiterated everything she said in the vid, telling E! News QUOTE, “Following her unforgettable VMA performance, Nicki Minaj has decided to reevaluate elements of production on the NickiHndrxx Tour...Nicki has decided to contribute more time to rehearsal ahead of the tour's launch to make certain her fans get the absolute best quality show that they deserve.”
It definitely makes sense that Nicki wants more rehearsal time, considering the tour was set to start just a month from now, but what do you guys think? Do you think the canceled dates have more to do with thos low ticket sales? And who do you wanna see replace Future as Nicki’s tour mate? Let me hear all your thoughts in the comments below!
