Never mind, Adele, we’ll find someone like you to spend our concert money on… OK WAIT I TOTALLY TAKE THAT BACK, I’d still wait hours to purchase a ticket and I’m sure I’m not alone on that.
The excruciating wait for Adele’s American leg of her 25 tour was in high demand yesterday as fans waited anxiously to snag a seat to her highly anticipated shows, however that high demand has caused fans to become infuriated after waiting for hours on Ticketmaster to ultimately become “shut out” of the site, losing their place in line.
Many sources have confirmed that the popular ticket-buying site endured some of the heaviest traffic its seen and sold out all of Adele’s nearly 40 shows in under an hour. Despite what some may think, the source also confirmed that Ticketmaster QUOTE “did not crash and performed very well, in spite of truly unprecedented demand.”
However in most cases, the popular ticket-buying site is taking the heat for the fans’ upset, but what they don’t know is that how the tickets go on sale is on the artist’s management team, which dictates its selling strategy to the venues and ultimately going to the ticket-buying sites.
So don’t go blaming Ticketmaster quite yet, because as also expected, the online sales of Adele’s tour dates were “heavily botted” AKA scammed by ticket-buying “bots” who attempt to buy bulks of tickets to resell for above-face-value price, however a Ticketmaster source estimated that more than 500,000 automated purchase attempts were blocked.
And just to add more stats to your Friday morning, and also because I know you ALL were wondering, although Adele sold out 6 shows at Staples Center, it still doesn’t break the record of Taylor Swift’s 5 sold-out shows this year and 16 lifetime sold out shows, so yes, that banner that Kobe Bryant presented her during her 1989 tour this year will still be flying high for all to drool over.
So as I attempt to find the light at the end of a long dark tunnel, I will point out that tickets are still up for grabs on secondary sites, like Stubhub, but are sold at prices above face-value, so will you still prove your love for Adele? That is the burning question, so I want to know if you tried to snag a ticket and if you were successful orrrr if you weren’t this time around, so share all your thoughts on the ticket-buying conundrum right down here in the comments section. After that, don’t forget to click right over here to check out the best comeback of 2015 on a brand new episode of Debatable.
