Rumors swirl that Selena Gomez reached out to Amanda Bynes to offer her a roll in ‘13 Reasons Why’--get the details right here on News Feed!
13 Reasons Why is a show about, among other things, portraying mental illness in a real way. So this latest casting rumor might not be so far fetched…
A rumor that Selena offered Amanda a role in her hit Netflix show is buzzing around the internet. While we can’t confirm if the rumor has any merit to it, it actually wouldn’t be the most shocking news in the world.
Amanda recently had her first interview in four years after her very public troubles and a string of arrests lead to her taking a break from the limelight to take care of her mental health. Amanda revealed in the interview that she’s doing much better these days and focusing on pursuing a career in fashion, after going to school at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising--also called “FIDM”--in LA. In addition to getting into fashion, Amanda also admitted that she’d love to get back into acting and start appearing in a few TV shows here and there.
As we all know, before her struggles with drugs and mental illness, Amanda Bynes became a household name thanks to her work on shows like All That and The Amanda Show, and films like “What a Girl Wants” and “She’s the Man”, co-starring Channing Tatum.
So now that she’s ready to jump back into the acting game, would it be so surprising that Selena would reach out to her to offer her a cameo or guest star in 13 Reasons? After all, Amanda has dealt with the types of issues that are certainly relevant to the show, and her appearance would definitely make for an interesting, albeit super meta, cameo. That being said, it seems unlikely that Selena would want anything to look like “stunt” casting on a show that is so near and dear to her heart.
While some fans are calling BS on the rumor, others have shown enthusiastic support for the idea of Selena reaching out to Amanda. One fan Tweeted QUOTE, “I’m so happy. Amanda deserves a new start. I'm glad Selena is reaching forward”, while another wrote QUOTE, “it's what she deserves”, followed by a yellow heart emoji. Whether this rumor is true or false, there’s nothing like a happy Hollywood comeback story, so hopefully we’ll see Amanda back on the big or small screen in some capacity, soon.
