Premiering at exactly 1pm eastern time today, Shawn debuted the video we have all been waiting for, yes, the video for “Treat You Better.” He’s been posting short clips from the vid on social media for the past week where we all knew Shawn would be fighting for his love, however, nobody was expecting this.
Starting off with a couple arguing in a car, we see a girl who obviously likes the bad boy she’s with, but some things are taken a little too far. Like when he grabs her face, dances with another girl to make her jealous, and almost gets them killed in a car accident.
But then insert Shawn as he contemplates how to fight for his crush while staring into a mirror shirtless, not to mention with an amazingly toned bod. It looks like the girl is having second guesses about her current relationship.
However, then we see Shawn, laying alone in a room with just his guitar hoping that the girl will choose him over the jerk she’s with. But in the end, we find out that it might be too late when the guy makes one mistake that he can’t take back.
Once the video fades to black, two phone numbers appear for the national domestic violence hotline. This is one music video that definitely sends an important message that hopefully no one will forget.
But not only did Shawn have a HUGE day today, he also performed a live, raw performance of the single last night on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon getting us all pretty amped about today’s release.
Belting out the pop song with an electric guitar in hand, Shawn blew us all away with a little help from the band “The Roots.”
