After scoring a Grammy earlier this month for his hit “Earned It,” the Weeknd took to the Oscars stage to perform the track from Fifty Shades of Grey!
The Academy awards just turned close to Fifty Shades of Sexy and we’re breaking it down right now on Clevver’s Award Show coverage.
The Weeknd turned up the heat preforming the song on a beaming stage, surrounded by chandeliers and candles. The set included a bunch of sexy dancers in lingerie AND a flying acrobat… Take a look! Reminiscent of the music video this performance did not disappoint… The song became hugely popular from the Fifty Shades of Grey film that was released over a year ago, yet ‘Earned It’ still seems to be going strong, well that and basically his entire breakout album Beauty Behind the Madness, which dropped back in august.
Earned it received an Oscar nomination in the original song category, but ultimately lost out to Sam Smith for ‘Writing’s on the Walls.’ Although he didn’t win an award… He’s by no means going home a loser, The Weeknd took to twitter after receiving his nomination saying QUOTE: it can't get more surreal than this. thank you for the recognition@TheAcademy . truly a proud moment.”
