The GLAAD Media awards are all about honoring artists and advocates of the LGBTQ community, and Troye’s recognition as both is more than deserved.
Troye accepted Stephen F. Kolzak Award at this year’s ceremony, which is given to an LGBTQ media professional who’s made a meaningful difference in promoting both equality and acceptance for those who identify as LGBTQ. Troye dedicated the award to the LGBTQ activists who paved the way for today's advocates.

Troye also spoke about the 2012 documentary “How to Survive a Plague”, which focuses on the early years of the AIDS epidemic and the efforts of organizations to raise awareness and find a cure. He talked about how he saw himself and his LGBTQ friends in the characters featured in the doc, and praised the sacrifices they made.
Talk about a beautiful, powerful, and eloquent speech! Troye is actually the youngest recipient of the award ever, but it’s obvious he’s more than deserving of the honor.
