Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, Idris Elba, Sarah Silverman, what do all of these talented actors have in common? Well, for one they were all nominated for a SAG award!
The nominees for the 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced early Wednesday morning and I’m not too surprised to see a few of these big name actors and popular TV shows on the list! “House of Cards” and “Trumbo” both lead the SAG nominations by getting three noms each, while Idris Elba and Helen Mirren come in second by earning themselves two nominations. And of course, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Orange is the New Black, and Modern Family are just a few ensemble shows that received noms in the drama and comedy series categories.
In the theatrical motion picture department, Bryan Cranston, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender, and Eddie Redmayne are all going against each other for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role award while Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Helen Mirren, Saoirse Ronan, and Sarah Silverman are all nominated for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role. Fun fact! This is actually Sarah’s first SAG award nomination, so I think I can imagine how excited she is right now. For a full list of the nominees, you can visit the SAG Awards website. The main show will air on both TNT and TBS on January 30th, 2016.
