If you’re on the outside of exactly where all of this drama started, allow me to give you some backstory. This all started at the Met Gala. Demi Lovato and Nicki Minaj were both wearing dresses designed by Jeremy Scott so, naturally, they were pictured together with the designer. Nicki later posted one of those pictures on her insta, tagging Jeremy, but not Demi, and then it all got a little heated from there.
Demi took to her snapchat with a selfie that read QUOTE “When you aren’t mentioned in a post but didn’t do s--t to the person.” Which may have seemed a bit dramatic, until Demi posted a picture of Nicki glaring at Demi on the carpet at the gala, perhaps revealing some negative feelings that Nicki Minaj may actually feel towards Demi hence why she wouldn’t tag Demi in her in posts.
Now whether or not this is the case… we may never know if there is actually beef between the two singers, but regardless, the internet flipped out and Demi Lovato got a whole lot of hate for her posts. And by the time midnight rolled around, Demi was ready for a rant, and she gave the haters what they were asking for.
What started with a tweet that read “Sometimes there’s more shit going on than you see. Maybe you DON’T know every aspect of my life so maybe you shouldn’t assume you know,” perfectly paired with the middle finger emoji, went on to QUOTE “Maybe my midnight rants are a part of my bipolar disorder. Can’t change being crazy.. But you can press unfollow.”
Demi also asked her haters how their grandparents would feel QUOTE “finding out you spend your free time being an internet troll to celebrities you don’t even know.” And it didn’t stop from there. But she ended with QUOTE “I’d rather annoy people with my honesty and loud opinions than stay silent and be fake as fuck. #lasttweetofthenight #goingtosleep
Gotta feel for her, because obviously she’s gotten enough hate this week to drive anybody crazy, so bipolar or not, this is probably a normal reaction.
What do you guys think? Was Demi right to shut the haters down on Twitter this morning or do you think this entire thing has gotten a little out of hand? Share all your thoughts in the comments section below or find me on Twitter @sineaddevries.
