Lady Gaga is just one of many celebrities proving that no matter what the circumstance, the care of your body and well-being is to always come first and foremost. Just this week, Gaga was scheduled to perform the Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil when she broke the news that she’s forced to pull out of the show due to severe physical pain alongside a photo of her arm with an IV in it.
She wrote QUOTE, “Brazil, I'm devastated that I'm not well enough to come to Rock In Rio. I would do anything 4 u but I have to take care of my body right now. I ask for your grace and understanding, and promise that I will come back and perform for you soon. I'm so sorry, and I love you so much.”
Her reps also released a statement she then posted to social media, along with another photo of a tattoo Gaga once got on the back of her neck that says ‘Rio’. She posted the photo with another heartfelt letter saying, “I was taken to the hospital, it is not simply hip pain or wear and tear from the road, I am in severe pain. But am in good hands with the very best doctors. Please don't forget my love for you. Remember years ago when I tattooed Rio on my neck, the tattoo was written by children in the favelas. Rio, you hold a special place in my heart I love you.”
Earlier this week, Gaga spoke out in a series of tweets about her pain while also bringing awareness to the disease that’s causing her pain called Fibromyalgia, saying QUOTE, “In our documentary the #chronicillness #chronicpain I deal w/ is #Fibromyalgia. I wish to help raise awareness & connect people who have it. Thought ice helped #Fibromyalgia. I was wrong & making it worse. Warm/Heat is better. Electric Heated Blanket, Infrared Sauna, Epsom Baths.”
And for those of you interested as to what the side effects of this disease are, Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes extensive muscle pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Gaga has spoken publicly about her struggles with chronic pain before, but this seems to be the first time she has given a name to it. She has posted signs of being in pain since back in 2016, when she posted an Instagram saying, “Having a frustrating day with chronic pain, but I find myself feeling so blessed to have such strong intelligent female doctors.” Gaga also plans on slowing down after her current Joanne tour and giving her body a rest.
She recently gave the announcement during the Toronto Film Festival where her Netflix documentary premiered, saying, “When this tour is over I will take a little downtime from myself, and then I’ll get back to doing what I love. I’m never not making music. I’m never not creating. I just am excited to spend some time reflecting on that past ten years and getting excited about what I want to create next.”
