Check out Leslie Jones’s hilarious opening monologue from the BET Awards...
Today’s episode of News Feed is brought to you by Pandora Premium, where you can search and play your favorite songs. Pandora: sounds like you.
Leslie Jones is one of the funniest women on the planet, and she proved to be the perfect choice to host this year’s BET awards.
Leslie was a tornado of energy from the moment she took the stage after an opening performance from Bruno Mars, screaming “What’s up?!” at the audience and then proceeding to lay down perfect joke after perfect joke for the rest of the monologue.
Leslie started things off by pointing out her decision to wear her knee brace on the outside for the awards show, joking that she’s at the age where she straight up doesn’t even care.
She then went on to make one of our favorite jokes of the night, all about how the names of rappers used to be much more literal and matched the rappers themselves. She pointed out that Biggie was called Biggie because he was just big, and Busta Rhymes was called Busta Rhymes because he would bust-a-rhyme during his heyday. But as for the names rappers are going by these days? Leslie joked that she can’t even begin to understand them, citing Lil’ Yachty as a perfect example…
Leslie also commented on how she’s turning 50 in September, and joked about the fact that even though she looks and feels like she’s in her 30s these days, when it comes to injuring herself, her body is always there to remind her that she’s definitely not as young as she feels in her mind…
But you still look like you’re in your 30s Leslie, which, as we all know, is what really matters at the end of the day.
