If there was one meme to perfectly sum up your 2016 (or 2017 for some), James Corden and his accidental cringe-worthy Grammy entrance may just be what you’re looking for.
The Carpool Karaoke king may have kept the singing to a minimum during tonight’s Grammy Awards opening sequence, but he did not disappoint in the category of complete and utter comedic CHAOS.
Immediately after Adele kicked off the 59th Grammy Awards with her hit “Hello”, out came…… wait……. hold on……… Almost there…… Ahhh, yes after a bit of technical difficulties, James Corden made his way to the rising platform. So he may have gotten slightly stuck on the rising stage for a second there, but don’t worry, that was only the beginning...
James had us all convinced for a split second that tumbling down an entire flight of stairs while losing his mic pack and a shoe in the process was all just a giant mishap, buuuut let’s be real, when does James Corden ever take himself seriously…? The show went on as he began hilariously yelling to his backup dancers, “We can’t allow these sort of mistakes!” because duh, it’s The Grammys!
But thankfully, James managed to salvage what time was left of his opening act, delivering an EPIC monologue-rap, recapping what to expect during tonight’s show while name-dropping the entire lineup of star-studded performers, like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and ‘Bruno from Mars’, annnnnd some not-so-noteworthy humans, like President Trump...
Wouldn’t be an award show without a memorable opening act and a bit of controversy, amiright?! But I’ve gotta know all your thoughts on James’ opening act and slayage of a rap-monologue, so hit us up right down here in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe for all the best award show coverage.
