The CW just announced their latest crossover event, and it’s going to be epic. The special, which airs in December, will feature Black Lightning, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends Of Tomorrow and The Flash. And if that’s not good enough, they also announced that Batwoman will be making her very first on-screen appearance in the episode.
But that’s not all! The network is also developing an entire TV series centered around Batwoman, who will be the first openly lesbian character in an DC Comics show.
Vanity Fair got a sneak peek of what the show will be like. The summary reads QUOTE: “Kate Kane, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”
We seriously cannot WAIT to see a female superhero take over Gotham. And we have high expectations because Greg Berlanti is going to be an executive producer of the show. For the uninformed, Greg has written and produced for Arrow, The Flash, Riverdale, Legends of Tomorrow AND Supergirl. Oh, and he just so happened to direct Love, Simon. Greg himself is an openly gay man, so it’s nice to see LGBT representation both on and off screen.
Caroline Dries, who previously wrote for other CW faves The Vampire Diaries and Smallville, will also be producing and writing for the show. There’s no release date yet, but the show it set to premiere some time in 2019.
So are you guys excited as us to see Batwoman? And who do you think should play the superhero? Let us know down in the comments below. Thanks for watching Clevver News; I’m your host, Ava Gordy. Please Click to the right to watch another new Video and don't forget to subscribe to our channels.
