Taylor Swift WINS Groping Trial & Releases Statement

Taylor Swift’s groping trial reaches a verdict--check out Taylor’s statement after the court awarded her the symbolic $1 she sued for.
Taylor has hoped her trial would encourage other sexual assault victims to speak out, and now she’s planning on putting her money where her mouth is.
After four hours of deliberation, the jury unanimously decided that Colorado-based DJ David Mueller did sexually assault and batter her during a meet and greet in 2013. Or, to put it as bluntly as Taylor did on the stand, he DID grab her ass cheek while taking a photo with her without her consent.
Taylor reportedly smiled when the verdict was read, and her lawyer thanked the judge and jury for the decision, saying QUOTE, “By returning a verdict on Ms. Swift's counterclaim for a single symbolic dollar, the value of which is immeasurable to all women in this situation...You will tell every woman...that no means no”.
Taylor immediately released a statement following the victorious verdict, noting that she hopes to help other sexual assault victims use their voice. The statement read in part QUOTE, “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”
No doubt Taylor is happy to put this case behind her and move on with her life, but we’re so thankful that she took the stand and allowed herself to be an example to all women that you DO have a voice, and you shouldn’t be afraid to use it.
