When The Weeknd surprise-dropped a new EP called My Dear Melancholy it left everyone positively shook to say the least.
The Weeknd, AKA Abel Tesfaye, referenced both ex-girlfriends Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid throughout the EP and fans can’t get over the obvious lyrics and hints.
The lyric that shocked everyone the most came from the song “Call Out My Name” that says QUOTE "I almost cut a piece of myself for your life/ Guess I was just another pit stop/ Til you made up your mind/ You just wasted my time.”
Obviously people immediately put the pieces together that the song is about Selena and how she got back together with Justin Bieber after they broke up. But what was most surprising is that Abel is alluding to the fact that he was almost Selena’s kidney donor instead of her longtime BFF Francia Raisa.
But apparently a source told E! that this simply isn’t true. The source said QUOTE “It’s just a lyric and he knew it would strum up attention and that people would interpret it exactly as they have, but he was never actually going to donate his kidney to Selena. Sure, he was her boyfriend at the time, so it perhaps crossed his mind to get tested to see if he was a match -- which is incredibly rare -- but it never got anywhere close to actually happening.”
Yikes! Not only did Abel allegedly use Sel’s kidney transplant to stir up rumors, but apparently the two’s relationship was never even that serious.
The source went on to say QUOTE “To be honest, they were never as intense as he’s making it seem.”
We honestly don’t know what to think about all of this.
Do you guys think that Abel was really going to donate his kidney or that he only brought it up in a song to create a reaction? Let us know in the comments below and then click here to see how The Weeknd slams Selena on his new EP. I’m Zoe Lillian, thanks for tuning in.
