Hello, Adele, it’s me, I’m in California dreaming about your performance at the Grammys….
So maybe you didn’t have the highest hopes for this Friday to turn itself around due to a little thing called Inauguration Day, but that was probably before you knew that Adele was added to the list of artists set to perform at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
Just this morning, The Recording Academy announced that the 10-time Grammy winner will take the stage again this year to perform one of her hits off of her multiplatinum album 25. Adele, who is no stranger to the Grammy stage, following performances in 2009, 2012 and just last year, will join previously announced artists Metallica, John Legend, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban.
Adele is up for 5 Grammys this year including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the year. But her tight competition within each of these categories won’t be the only thing fans will be zeroing in on this year… Redemption will be served this year after Adele’s performance of her hit “All I Ask” during last year’s Grammys didn’t exactly go as planned, when she suffered technical audio difficulties throughout the entire performance.
Adele appeared on Ellen following the performance and revealed that she pretty much cried all day following the mishap, also saying QUOTE, “It threw the whole thing off. Next time I have any sound issues, I am going to start over. I will tell them, 'Sorry, that's not working for me.' Otherwise… bye! In fairness, I would have cried if it went really well. If it was a standout performance, I would have cried as well. I always cry. I was so embarrassed...It can't get much worse than the Grammys.”
Thankfully it can only get better from this point, and whether she performs her hits “Send My Love, Water Under the Bridge or even a redo of “All I Ask”, all WE ask is that everything runs smoothly and that Adele snags a few new pieces of hardware under her belt.
The Grammys will air on Sunday, February 12th so until that time comes I want to know all your thoughts on Adele being added to the list of Grammy performances, so hit us up in the comments section and after that, click right over here to check out all the best moments from this week’s People’s Choice Awards, and as always don’t forget to subscribe.
