The 2018 American Music Awards was one of the biggest nights in music, especially for those who won, and we’ve got a breakdown of the biggest winners.
Taylor Swift broke an all-time record with 24 total AMA wins up to date.

Swifties all over the world celebrated Taylor’s wins. She took home Favorite Album, Pop Rock’ for Reputation, ‘Best Tour’ for Reputation and of course the most coveted award of the night, ‘Artist of The Year’. Off the air, she was awarded a 4th AMA for ‘Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock’.
Cardi B was all smiles when she took home ‘Favorite Rap Hip hop artist’ and ‘Favorite Song/Hip Hop’ for Bodak Yellow. The rapper thanked her daughter Kulture for giving her the motivation she needed to prove the haters wrong. She said, QUOTE “I really want to thank my daughter, I gotta prove people wrong. They said I wasn’t going to make it after I had a baby.”
The new mom also hit the stage and gave a colorful performance of “I Like It” alongside Latin super stars J Balvin and Bad Bunny.
Her hubby didn’t go home empty handed, Migos was named ‘Favorite pop/rpock duo or group’.
Rapper-singer XXXTentacion, who was fatally shot in June, was also honored: He won favorite soul/R&B album for his 2017 debut, “17.” His mother took the stage to accept the award.
Post Malone won ‘Best pop rock male’ and kept his speech short saying he wasn’t very good at talking but went ahead and thanked his family.
It was a special night for Khalid as he won his very first American Music Award for best Soul/R&b Male. He thanked his mom for being his biggest inspiration.
And tonight, Camila Cabello won her first solo AMAs. Both her parents were sitting front row as she accepted her awards. She took home both ‘Best Pop/Rock Song’ and Favorite Collaboration of The Year’ for ‘Havana’ featuring Young Thug, along with ‘Favorite Music Video’ and of course the most important of them all, ‘Favorite New Artist of The Year’.
On the other hand, a very pregnant and excited Carrie Underwood won her 13th American music Award for ‘Country Female Artist and Shawn Mendes went home with ‘Adult Contemporary’ following his ‘Lost in Japan’ performance with Zedd.
So much talent was recognized tonight, and I can’t help but praise Taylor for breaking the all-time AMA record, surpassing Whitney Houston with 23 awards. Michael Jackson has 24.
